| An early geometry
CD-ROM that allows children (K-8) the opportunity to experiment with shapes
in the form of virtual manipulatives. All of the activities and virtual
manipulatives served as multiple learning opportunities helping kids to
understand the many principles of geometry. While I was working for Basis
Applied Technology in Gibsons, British Columbia, I provided 8-bit graphics
& layout support for the interface. Using this tool, kids could work with two- and three- dimensional shapes by playing their choice of 5 activities, or "worlds". Each of the activities has the same interface -- there is a workspace, with the various tools and shapes, as well as a palette, all outlining the board. The Main Menu also contains a Shape Up! book icon that leads to a book of files. It contains pre-prepared lessons, and parents/teachers can also save their own lesson plans in this folder. The Picture Library contains saved pictures that can be pulled onto the workspace. |
